Classes

Baby Dance With Me (ages 12mos – 3 yrs)

If you can walk… you can dance! Baby Dance With Me is designed as a vehicle for little ones that aren’t quite ready to leave mom or dad behind but are interested in socializing in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Baby Dance With Me is an enchanting and delightful introduction to dance for ages 12 months to 3 years. Basic elements of dance are introduced through play and instruction using props such as hula-hoops, dolls, and maracas. This is a magical way for children who love music and movement to channel that energy toward dance.

Baby Ballet (ages 2-3)

On the fast track to being a Broadway Baby! Baby Ballet class is an enchanting and delightful introduction to ballet for 2-3 year old children. Basic elements of ballet such as first position, plié, and passé are introduced through play and instruction using props such as hula-hoops, dolls, and maracas. This is a magical way for children who love music and movement to channel that energy toward dance. NOTE: The only requirement for participation in Baby Ballet is that the student will separate from the parent and follow the general loose structure of the class. If, after two weeks, the child has not shown any improvement we will recommend the student and a parent or caregiver transfer to Baby Dance With Me.

Dance Combo I (ages 4-5)

These dancers are tutu cute! This hour class is divided into 20 min section of hip hop, ballet, and tap. Students will learn the basic building blocks of ballet, tap and hip hop in a nurturing and child friendly environment. Learning paired with games, activities and props make class more enjoyable and students are more excited to learn.

Dance Combo II (ages 6-7)

Prima ballerinas in training! This hour and a half class is divided into 30 min section of hip hop, ballet, and tap. Students build on the basic steps learned in Dance Combo I and move away from as many props and games. The barre is introduced and used for warm-ups in ballet. Students take a closer look at technique and begin learning more complex moves and combinations.

Dance Combo III (ages 8-9)

Raising the barre… This hour and a half class is divided into 30 min section of hip hop, ballet, and tap. Students build on the basic steps learned in Dance Combo I and Dance Combo II and move away from props and games completely. The barre is used for warm-ups in ballet and sometimes in tap. Students work on technique for each new step and revisit rudimentary steps to understand placement and positioning.

Dance Combo IV (ages 10+)

When you just Gotta Dance! This two hour class is divided into 30 min section of hip hop, ballet, tap and pre-pointe/pointe. Students build on the basic steps learned in Dance Combo I, II and III. The barre is used for warm-ups in ballet and tap. Students work on technique for each new step and begin using creative movement in choreography. Ballet students will work closely on developing ankle strength and the core in preparation for Pointe.

Academy Classes

Ages 7-18 Level 1 ages 7-9, Level 2 ages 9-11, Level 3 ages 12+ These classes are for the more serious dancer seeking a progressive curriculum.

Hip Hop/Gymnastics

Funkify your life with hip moves and cool tricks! This is a fusion of hip hop and floor gymnastics. Younger students will be instructed in basic hip hop moves and rudimentary floor gymnastics. Older and more experienced students will be able to work on more difficult moves and more complex combinations.

Ballet

Students will learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations.

Lyrical

Students will explore partnering exercises combined with basic techniques from ballet and jazz. It emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement.

Tap

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement.

Irish Step I

Celebrate the Luck of the Irish every week! This introduction to Irish Step is for beginners looking to learn a new form of dance. Basic steps will be introduced and reinforced throughout the year.

Irish Step II

Practice makes a perfect Irish Lass… This is for students that have taken Irish Step I and need more of a challenge or students that have shown a talent for basic Irish Step. Basic steps will be paired with new and challenging steps to create more complex and interesting combinations.

Pre-Pointe

This class is for serious ballet students looking to further their studies in technique. This is a rigorous course in placement, ankle-strengthening exercises and preparation for pointe shoes.

Pointe (ages 10+ with instructor permission)

This class is for serious ballet students looking to further their studies in technique that have completed at least two years of Pre-Pointe. This is a rigorous course in placement, ankle-strengthening exercises, core-strengthening exercises and performance. This class must be taken in addition to a Dance Combo course.
